CBD (cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring compound from the cannabis plant. CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it does not cause the “high” associated with THC. This is a common misconception.

CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which researchers believe plays a role in the body’s natural processes for balance and regulation. Therefore, CBD is an area being studied in relation to different aspects of wellbeing and the body’s natural functions.

If you want to dive deeper into what research is saying and which possible effects are being looked at, you can read more on our Benefits page, where we review this in a neutral, source-based format.

Provitura is an all-in-one wellness product that combines CBD with selected vitamins, minerals, algae-based omega-3, and plant-based extracts. The formula is designed to support a simple, complete daily routine, so you can avoid juggling multiple products.

At the core of Provitura is quality CBD designed for improved absorption. We use micro-emulsified, water-soluble CBD, designed to be easier for the body to absorb than traditional oil-based CBD. If you want to learn more about bioavailability and absorption, see the explanation on our Benefits page.

CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). ECS is a complex cell-signaling system involved in regulating processes such as mood, appetite, sleep, and immune function. The ECS consists of endocannabinoids (naturally occurring cannabinoids produced by the body), receptors (found throughout the body, including the brain and immune system), and enzymes that break down endocannabinoids.

CBD affects ECS by interacting with its receptors, primarily CB1 and CB2 receptors. Unlike THC, CBD does not bind directly to these receptors, but may influence their activity. The exact mechanisms are still being investigated, and researchers are studying how CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoids as well as other receptors and neurotransmitters.

Research on CBD is still developing, and more studies are needed to understand how CBD affects the body fully. Indications from earlier research point to possible effects, including a potential influence on stress, pain, and wellbeing, but these claims are not yet generally accepted claims. If you want to explore the research overview, see our Benefits page.

Provitura’s CBD is micro-emulsified and water-soluble to increase the likelihood of better absorption and effect in the body. Compared with traditional oil-based CBD, micro-emulsified CBD is designed to support faster and more efficient absorption. Studies on this have shown up to 4 times greater utilization of the active substance and thus a clearer result with a smaller dose. Read more about this in our research overview.

Our CBD is sourced from pure broad-spectrum hemp, without added chemicals or unnecessary additives. It contains naturally occurring cannabinoids and plant compounds that work together to support the body in a balanced and natural way. The result is a clean, potent, and reliable CBD product.

CBD is non-psychoactive and does not cause a high. In fact, CBD is not intended to give you a noticeable feeling when taken. Instead many describe the experience as calm and neutral, like the body settling, without feeling mentally dulled or less focused.

people experience CBD differently. Some notice almost no subjective feeling, while others describe a light inner calm or a more balanced feeling in everyday life.

If you want a source-based overview of what research is exploring, see our Benefits page.

Although CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) both come from the cannabis plant, they act differently in the body and provide very different experiences.

Psychoactive effects

THC is the compound responsible for the “high” or euphoric feeling associated with cannabis. It can affect the brain and can alter both mood and perception.

CBD, on the other hand, is non-psychoactive. This means it does not produce an intoxicating effect or a feeling of being “high.” Many describe CBD as more neutral – without intoxication or altered consciousness.

Legislation and safety

Since THC has an intoxicating effect, it is subject to strict regulation in most countries.
CBD is non-psychoactive, but it is still subject to regulations across the EU – including rules on THC content and how products may be marketed.

At Provitura, we use broad-spectrum CBD with less than  0.1% THC.

Use and characteristics

Both substances are being researched, but in different contexts:

  • CBD is studied mainly in relation to wellbeing without intoxicating effects.

  • THC is used in certain approved medicines in some countries, including in connection with specific medical treatments—but this takes place under medical supervision and within a strict legal framework.

Side effects and tolerance

THC can cause side effects such as altered perception, reduced reaction time, dry mouth, increased heart rate, and impaired short-term memory – especially at higher doses.

CBD is generally well tolerated by most people, but it can also cause side effects in some, such as digestive discomfort or interactions with other medications. Therefore, we always recommend speaking with your doctor if you are taking medication or if you are unsure.

Yes, CBD is legal in large parts of Europe as long as the product complies with applicable rules, including that THC content does not exceed 0.2% THC.

At Provitura, we use broad-spectrum CBD with low THC content (less than 0.1%), which is under this limit.

All our batches are tested by independent third-party laboratories that specialize in cannabinoid analysis. This includes checking, among other things:

  • The THC level is below the limits we work with

  • The CBD content matches the declared strength – often with a small margin on the higher side within normal product variation

You can view current test reports on our Laboratory Reports page.

Safety and responsible use

CBD is generally considered to be well tolerated and safe. The World Health Organization (WHO) concluded in their critical review from 2018 that:

“CBD is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile. Reported adverse effects may be as a result of drug-drug interactions between CBD and patients’ existing medications.”

People generally tolerate CBD well, but the experience can vary from person to person.

Interaction with medication:

CBD can affect how certain medicines are metabolized in the body.

*If you take medication or have a chronic illness, you should always talk to your doctor before you begin using CBD.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

*Do not use CBD if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Potential side effects:

Some may experience mild effects such as fatigue, dry mouth, stomach upset, or changes in appetite. This can often be improved by reducing the dose or stopping use.

With capsules, CBD is absorbed through digestion before it reaches the bloodstream. For micro-emulsified, water-soluble CBD, human studies suggest peak blood levels around 1 hour after intake. Traditional CBD oil often peaks later, around 3 to 4 hours in similar studies.

The experience of CBD is highly individual – some people describe a subtle sense of calm or balance, while others mainly notice a difference over days or weeks with regular use.

Think of CBD as something you try consistently over time, not a quick fix. Start low, be consistent, and give it time before you decide what works for you.

If you want to dive more into research about absorption, bioavailability, and potential benefits, you can read more on our Benefits page, where we review studies in a source-based way.

CBD & NATURAL INGREDIENTS – RESEARCH

CBD, curcumin and piperine do not have EU‑approved health claims. The information below is based on published, peer‑reviewed studies and does not constitute medical claims. Results may vary from person to person.

CBD (cannabidiol)

Provitura uses a micro‑emulsified, water‑soluble CBD formulation. Clinical studies have shown that this type of formulation can increase absorption up to four times compared to traditional CBD oil [1,2].

Research investigates CBD’s potential role within:

Stress & Anxiety A randomised clinical trial (2024) with 300 participants showed that the CBD group experienced the greatest improvement in anxiety symptoms. A large case series (2019) with 72 adults found that 79.2% experienced improved anxiety within the first month [3,4,5].

Sleep quality In the same case series 66.7% reported improved sleep within the first month. Research suggests that CBD’s sleep effect may partly be due to reduction of anxiety and racing thoughts [4,6].

Pain & Inflammation A cross‑sectional study (2022) with 428 participants with arthritis showed that 83% reported pain relief when using CBD. A review from 2020 documents CBD’s anti‑inflammatory mechanisms and finds antioxidant activity higher than vitamin E or C in laboratory studies [7,8].

Mood & Mental Balance Animal studies have shown rapid antidepressant‑like effects, and human research indicates that CBD may support emotional regulation via the serotonin system. However, larger human studies are still lacking [9,10].

Curcumin

Curcumin is the active substance in turmeric. A meta‑analysis of 32 clinical studies with over 2,000 participants found that curcumin supplements reduced several markers of inflammation [11]. Research on people with osteoarthritis has shown improved pain and function compared to placebo [12].

Curcumin has naturally low bioavailability, which is why Provitura combines it with piperine [13].

Piperine

Piperine is the active substance in black pepper and acts as a “bioenhancer.” A clinical study showed that 20 mg piperine increased blood levels of curcumin by about 2000% compared to curcumin alone [13].
