CBD - From the Hemp Plant

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a natural substance from the hemp plant. Provitura uses a micro‑emulsified, water‑soluble formulation which research shows can increase absorption up to four times compared with traditional CBD oil. [2][3].

Research points to:

  • CBD can contribute to a sense of calm and reduced anxiety in everyday life.[4][5]
  • CBD can support sleep quality in some people.[4][6]
  • CBD can help some to handle everyday stress and restlessness.[5]

CBD interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in regulating mood, sleep and stress. Research investigates CBD’s potential in everything from sleep quality to daily well‑being. We have collected the scientific documentation so you can dive into what the research shows.

Curcumin - Natural Power from Turmeric

Curcumin is the active component of turmeric and has been used in Ayurvedic and Asian medicine for over 4,000 years. Today it’s one of the most researched natural substances, with hundreds of clinical studies into its potential health benefits.

Research points to:

  • Antioxidative properties that can protect cells against oxidative stress.[7]
  • Can support a healthy inflammatory response.[7]
  • Can contribute to mobility and joint comfort.[8]

Curcumin is best known for its antioxidant properties and its ability to support the body’s natural inflammatory response. A meta‑analysis of 32 clinical studies with over 2,000 participants found that curcumin supplementation reduced several markers of inflammation in the body.[7]

Regarding joint comfort, research also shows promising results. A review of randomised studies on people with osteoarthritis found that curcumin in several trials was associated with reduced pain and improved function compared with placebo.[8]

Curcumin naturally has low bioavailability - the body has difficulty absorbing it on its own. Therefore Provitura combines curcumin with piperine, where a clinical study showed that 20 mg piperine could increase blood levels of curcumin by around 2000% in humans.[9]

*Based on peer‑reviewed research. Curcumin has no EU‑approved health claims.

Omega-3 (DHA/EPA) – From vegan algae

Provitura contains omega-3 from vegan algae - the original source that fish themselves obtain their omega-3 from. A clean, sustainable and plant-based source of the essential fatty acids DHA and EPA.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal vision
  • Contributes to the normal function of the heart

DHA and EPA are essential fatty acids that the body cannot produce on its own. By extracting omega-3 from microalgae, we ensure sustainable production without burdening the ocean’s fish stocks.

Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) - Energy and Nervous System

Vitamin B1 is essential for the body’s energy metabolism. It plays a central role in converting the food you eat into fuel for body and brain.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to a normal energy metabolism
  • Contributes to the normal function of the nervous system
  • Contributes to normal psychological function
  • Contributes to the normal function of the heart

Thiamine is a water-soluble vitamin that the body cannot store in large amounts. Therefore, daily intake is important. The vitamin helps convert carbohydrates to energy and supports the nervous system’s communication between brain and body.

Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic acid) - Mental Performance

Vitamin B5 is involved in a wide range of processes - from energy production to synthesis of hormones and signalling substances in the brain.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to normal mental performance
  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Contributes to a normal energy metabolism
  • Contributes to normal synthesis of steroid hormones and neurotransmitters

Pantothenic acid plays a central role in the body’s energy production - it helps convert fats and carbohydrates into fuel. Additionally, B5 is involved in the production of hormones and signalling substances in the brain, which affect everything from stress management to mood.

Vitamin B6 - Immune System and Hormones

Vitamin B6 is involved in over 100 enzymatic reactions, including protein metabolism, formation of red blood cells and regulation of hormonal activity.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity
  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Contributes to normal psychological function
  • Contributes to normal formation of red blood cells
  • Contributes to the normal function of the nervous system
  • Contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism
  • Contributes to normal cysteine synthesis
  • Contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism

B6 helps the body form haemoglobin - the protein in blood that transports oxygen around to muscles and organs. It also supports the production of serotonin and dopamine, which affect mood and concentration.

Vitamin B12 - Energy and Nervous System

Vitamin B12 is crucial for the nervous system and the formation of red blood cells. Especially important for people who eat plant-based, as B12 is primarily found in animal foods.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Contributes to the normal function of the nervous system
  • Contributes to normal formation of red blood cells
  • Contributes to normal psychological function
  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to a normal energy metabolism
  • Contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism
  • Has a role in the cell division process

B12 is stored in the liver and is important for the formation of red blood cells and maintenance of the nervous system. Deficiency can lead to fatigue, concentration difficulties and in some cases tingling in hands and feet. As B12 is primarily found in animal foods, it may be particularly relevant for vegetarians and vegans.

Vitamin C - Immune System and Antioxidant

Vitamin C functions as a powerful antioxidant and is essential for the immune system and the formation of collagen in skin, bones and joints.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to the protection of cells against oxidative stress
  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Increases the absorption of iron
  • Contributes to normal collagen formation for normal functions of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth
  • Contributes to a normal energy metabolism
  • Contributes to the normal function of the nervous system
  • Contributes to normal psychological function

Vitamin C is water-soluble and cannot be stored in the body, so daily intake is necessary. In Provitura vitamin C is combined with iron, which significantly increases iron absorption - particularly relevant for those with increased iron needs.

Vitamin D (D3) – Bones and Immune System

Vitamin D is produced naturally in the skin when it is exposed to sunlight - but in Europe many get too little, especially in the winter months.

Provitura contains D3, which is the form the body itself produces and absorbs better than other forms of vitamin D[12]. Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium from food, which is crucial for healthy bones and also supports the immune system.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal bones
  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal muscle function
  • Contributes to normal absorption/utilisation of calcium and phosphorus
  • Contributes to normal calcium levels in the blood
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal teeth
  • Has a role in the cell division process

Unlike other vitamins, vitamin D functions almost like a hormone in the body and influences a wide range of functions beyond bones - including muscles and the immune system. In Europe, where sunlight is limited for much of the year, vitamin D supplementation is recommended. Provitura contains D3, which research shows is the form the body absorbs best [12].

Iron - Energy and Oxygen Transport

Iron is essential for the formation of haemoglobin - the protein in red blood cells that binds oxygen in the lungs and transports it around to all the body’s cells. Without enough iron this oxygen transport does not work optimally, which can be felt as fatigue and reduced focus. Therefore iron plays an important role for energy, concentration and a well-functioning immune system.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Contributes to normal cognitive function
  • Contributes to normal oxygen transport in the body
  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to normal formation of red blood cells and haemoglobin
  • Contributes to a normal energy metabolism
  • Has a role in the cell division process

Iron deficiency is one of the most widespread nutrient deficiencies worldwide and can lead to fatigue, reduced concentration and a weakened immune system. Iron can be difficult for the body to absorb - especially the type of iron found in plants (non-heme iron). Therefore Provitura combines iron with vitamin C, which is documented to significantly increase iron absorption. This way we ensure that the body can actually utilise the iron you ingest.

The absorption of iron from plant-based sources (non-heme iron) is generally lower than from animal sources (heme iron) and is influenced by both inhibiting and promoting substances in the diet.[13] Vitamin C is known to increase the absorption of non-heme iron when taken together.[14] Therefore iron in Provitura is formulated together with vitamin C to support the body’s utilisation of the iron.

Selenium - Antioxidant and Thyroid

Selenium is a mineral that the body only needs in small amounts - but those small amounts are crucial. Selenium functions as a powerful antioxidant that protects the body’s cells and plays a central role for both the immune system and metabolism.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
  • Contributes to the normal function of the thyroid gland
  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal hair and nails
  • Contributes to normal spermatogenesis

Although the body only needs selenium in microgram amounts, it is involved in several important processes. As an antioxidant, selenium helps protect cells against so-called oxidative stress - a form of "wear and tear" on cells that arises naturally with age and can affect everything from skin to the immune system.

Selenium is also crucial for the thyroid - the butterfly-shaped gland at the front of the neck that controls your metabolism. The thyroid produces hormones that regulate how quickly the body burns energy, and selenium is necessary for these hormones to function properly. Without sufficient selenium, metabolism can be affected, which can be felt as fatigue or changes in energy levels.

In Northern Europe, the selenium content of the soil is generally lower than in many other parts of the world, which may mean that locally grown foods contain less selenium. This is particularly true for people who primarily eat plant-based foods from local sources [15].

Magnesium - Muscles and Mental Balance

Magnesium contributes to a wide range of processes in the body - among other things to normal muscle function, the normal function of the nervous system, electrolyte balance and psychological well-being. A sufficient intake of magnesium is therefore important for both body and mind.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to normal muscle function
  • Contributes to normal psychological function
  • Contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • Contributes to the normal function of the nervous system
  • Contributes to electrolyte balance
  • Contributes to a normal energy metabolism
  • Contributes to normal protein synthesis
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal bones and teeth
  • Has a role in the cell division process

Magnesium is involved in hundreds of enzymatic processes and is important for both energy metabolism, muscles and the nervous system. Since the body neither produces nor stores large amounts of magnesium, regular intake through the diet is important.

Zinc – Immune System and Skin

Zinc is a key mineral for the immune system, skin, hair, nails and hormonal balance. It contributes to allowing cells to divide and repair themselves and plays an important role in the body’s natural defence against oxidative stress.

Benefits:

  • Contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails
  • Contributes to the protection of cells against oxidative stress
  • Contributes to normal fertility and reproduction
  • Contributes to the maintenance of normal testosterone levels in the blood
  • Contributes to normal cognitive function
  • Contributes to normal vision
  • Contributes to normal DNA synthesis
  • Contributes to normal protein synthesis
  • Contributes to normal acid-base metabolism
  • Has a role in the cell division process

Zinc is part of more than 300 enzymes and is crucial for cells to grow, divide and repair tissue. It contributes to the normal function of the immune system, protects cells from oxidative stress and is important for normal fertility and reproduction.

Piperine - Increased Absorption

Piperine is the active substance in black pepper. In Provitura piperine is added in a small amount because research suggests that it can act as a “bio-enhancer” and increase the absorption of selected substances - especially curcumin.[9][10]

Research shows:

  • Can significantly increase blood levels of curcumin when taken together.[9]
  • Described as a “bioavailability enhancer” in several scientific review articles.[10][11]

Piperine is known in research as a “bioavailability enhancer” - a substance that can increase the bioavailability of other compounds by affecting absorption and breakdown in the gut and liver.[10][11] One of the best documented examples is its combination with curcumin: in a clinical study on healthy volunteers, 20 mg piperine increased blood levels of curcumin by about 20 times (around 2000%) compared with curcumin alone.[9]

In Provitura piperine is included as a supporting ingredient: not to provide its own effect, but to help the body better utilise especially curcumin and the other active substances in the product.

*Piperine currently has no EU-approved health claims. The effects described are based on published, peer-reviewed studies, and results may vary from person to person.

CBD & NATURAL INGREDIENTS – RESEARCH

CBD, curcumin and piperine do not have EU‑approved health claims. The information below is based on published, peer‑reviewed studies and does not constitute medical claims. Results may vary from person to person.

CBD (cannabidiol)

Provitura uses a micro‑emulsified, water‑soluble CBD formulation. Clinical studies have shown that this type of formulation can increase absorption up to four times compared to traditional CBD oil [1,2].

Research investigates CBD’s potential role within:

Stress & Anxiety A randomised clinical trial (2024) with 300 participants showed that the CBD group experienced the greatest improvement in anxiety symptoms. A large case series (2019) with 72 adults found that 79.2% experienced improved anxiety within the first month [3,4,5].

Sleep quality In the same case series 66.7% reported improved sleep within the first month. Research suggests that CBD’s sleep effect may partly be due to reduction of anxiety and racing thoughts [4,6].

Pain & Inflammation A cross‑sectional study (2022) with 428 participants with arthritis showed that 83% reported pain relief when using CBD. A review from 2020 documents CBD’s anti‑inflammatory mechanisms and finds antioxidant activity higher than vitamin E or C in laboratory studies [7,8].

Mood & Mental Balance Animal studies have shown rapid antidepressant‑like effects, and human research indicates that CBD may support emotional regulation via the serotonin system. However, larger human studies are still lacking [9,10].

Curcumin

Curcumin is the active substance in turmeric. A meta‑analysis of 32 clinical studies with over 2,000 participants found that curcumin supplements reduced several markers of inflammation [11]. Research on people with osteoarthritis has shown improved pain and function compared to placebo [12].

Curcumin has naturally low bioavailability, which is why Provitura combines it with piperine [13].

Piperine

Piperine is the active substance in black pepper and acts as a “bioenhancer.” A clinical study showed that 20 mg piperine increased blood levels of curcumin by about 2000% compared to curcumin alone [13].
